about

a song about the memories of youth written by Joel

lyrics

THE DOOR

Verse 1
MEMORIES OF CHILDHOOD SO VIVID TO ME
I REACH OUT TO TOUCH I YEARN TO BE FREE
CHILDHOOD ILLUSIONS OF YEARS GONE PAST
SHAKEN IN DREAMS FROM FIRST TO THE LAST

Chorus 1
TO RETURN ONCE AGAIN TO THE FREEDOM OF YOUTH
TO BE FREE OF THE BURDENS OF UN-ALTERED TRUTH
OH THE JOY OF OUR GAMES AS WE RAN IN THE WOODS
SO ALIVE SO ALIVE

Verse 2
NOW THAT I’M OLDER I KNOW SO MUCH MORE
BUT I’D LOSE IT ALL FOR A CHANCE AT THE DOOR
THAT LEADS TO THE LIFE LIKE THE ONE THAT I KNEW
MY CHILDHOOD ILLUSIONS COULD SOMEHOW BE TRUE

Chorus 2
TO BE FREE AS A BIRD IN THE COURSE OF ITS FLIGHT
TO EXIST IN A LAND WHERE THE LESSONS OF MIGHT
ARE TO LIVE AND LET LIVE SO LONG AS THERE’S LIGHT
IN THE SKY IN THE SKY

(Instrumental Break)

repeat verse 2
repeat chorus 1
repeat chorus 2
